Deborah J. Daniels is a former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana and Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, where she oversaw multiple research, policy and grantmaking agencies and managed a $4.2 billion budget. She is a former member of the board of the National Center for State Courts and now co-chairs its Leadership Council. Ms. Daniels is also a former President of the Sagamore Institute, a Midwest think tank based in Indianapolis. During the course of her career in law, she served as managing partner of the law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP. Her practice included corporate compliance and internal investigations. In 2017, she conducted an in-depth analysis of the policies and practices of USA Gymnastics with regard to protecting young athletes from sexual abuse, resulting in a comprehensive set of recommendations that formed the basis for a complete overhaul of the organization’s practices.
