Paul Cox is a partner with the Raleigh law firm Poyner Spruill LLP, where he focuses on government-related matters, campaigns and elections, litigation, and appeals. Previously, Paul served as general counsel to the North Carolina State Board of Elections and special deputy attorney general at the North Carolina Department of Justice. In these roles, he litigated high-profile constitutional, statutory, and administrative cases and advised state and local officials on complex legal and policy questions. Paul received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and his law degree from UC-Berkeley School of Law. He clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before practicing law, Paul was a public relations professional and policy aide for federal elected officials.
