Hon. Paul W. Grimm (Ret.) is a mediator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator who concluded an illustrious 25-year career on the federal bench, first as a magistrate judge and most recently as a district court judge for the District of Maryland. He previously served as the director of the Bolch Judicial Institute at Duke Law School.

He has taught courses, lectured and written extensively on topics relating to e-discovery, technology and law, civil procedure, discovery and evidence. In September 2009, he was appointed by Chief Justice John Roberts to serve as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and he chaired the subcommittee on discovery until 2015. A sought-after speaker, Judge Grimm has presented at conferences and programs nationwide.

Prior to his time on the bench, Judge Grimm was in private practice in Baltimore for 13 years, handling a wide variety of commercial litigation, including construction, bankruptcy and insurance matters.
