Peter Zeughauser is Chair and founder of Zeughauser Group, an international legal consultancy. He is a trusted advisor to the leadership of leading global and U.S. law firms on growth, management, and go-to-market strategies. He has been a central figure in the re-shaping of Big Law, having served as an advisor on some of the most consequential combinations and strategy initiatives, including the largest trans-Atlantic law firm combination and the first combination between a Chinese and an American law firm. Peter has served on the boards of numerous industry and civic associations, including over a decade on the board of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), which he chaired in 1991. As chair, he convened and led ACC’s Blue-Ribbon Commission on Diversity, launching the profession’s first national client-led DEI initiative.

Prior to founding Zeughauser Group, Peter was the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of The Irvine Company for over a decade. Under his leadership, the company’s legal department was recognized as one of the top ten in the United States alongside GE, AT&T, and IBM in a poll of over 350 law firm leaders and consultants to the industry. For 16 years he served as a Contributing Editor of the American Lawyer Magazine, writing a regular law firm management column. Peter has taught and lectured at numerous law schools, including Stanford, Harvard, UVA, UC Berkeley, and UC Irvine, where he serves on the Board of Visitors. He also serves on the Board of the Center for Humanities at UW-Madison.
