Former state chief justices unite for judicial independence

More than 40 former Supreme Court chief justices from various states are uniting to advocate on behalf of judicial independence during what they describe as a troubling time in the country.
The Alliance of Former Chief Justices’ formation also comes as Kansans face an August 2026 ballot question about whether voters should start electing the state’s seven Supreme Court justices. . . .
